Why Boudoir Photography?

You know how you have this friend who is so powerful… When she walks into the room, everybody knows it. She’s absolutely stunning, from the way her hips swing to the way she brushes her hair off her face. She is the picture of femininity. And it’s not just looks, it’s her “being,” she is a goddess… and she doesn’t even know it! 

You don’t understand how she doesn’t see this in herself. She’s hard on herself. She looks in the mirror, and all she sees is her flaws. She’s a Mom and she constantly feels like she’s failing. She can never keep up. She puts up with the wrong relationship way too long because she doesn’t think she deserves better. Or maybe she’s with the person of her dreams, but she still doesn’t feel good enough. She accepts a job for less than what she’s worth because… she doesn’t know her worth.

But what if she did? What if she looked in the mirror and saw how beautiful, strong, resilient and badass she was. What if she looked in the mirror and said I’m sexy! What kind of impact would that be on herself, her daughter? What if she went to that interview and negotiated for more pay? What if she followed her dreams and started her own business? What if she looked at herself as a mom and said, I am enough! What if she didn’t settle for less in her relationship and did the work to make it better, because she knew she deserved it. What if she could now authentically cheer her friends on without any hint of jealousy? 

What if we weren’t talking about your friend, but we were talking about you? We were talking about me… This is why I do Boudoir. 

Boudoir is way more than sexy photos. 

It’s transformation. 

It’s healing. 

It’s a way to look at yourself and see a part of you that you didn’t know existed. Or maybe you did, but you never saw her reflected back to you. This is priceless… and I believe the confidence that gives my clients carries over to the rest of their lives. I’m not here to just make sexy photographs. I’m here to give my clients a life-change experience that brings them closer to their purpose and really loving all of themselves.

It may not feel like it, but I believe the transformation begins the minute you commit to doing a session like this for yourself. I think society can easily make us feel guilty for spending money on ourselves, especially us moms. Not just guilty for spending the money, but for being “vain”, for being so “selfish”. 

But know, you ARE BRAVE! 

You’ll likely feel a mixture of excitement, nervousness, maybe even downright fear. I mean, did you really just pay someone to look at you half naked? But this is all where the growth happens. I want you to know I got your back. I’m here to create a space of love and self acceptance. To be your cheerleader. To have you see yourself for the amazing person you are. 

The first 10 to 15 minutes of your session is typically a warm-up time. For you and for me! Not that we won’t nail some photos immediately – honestly, sometimes my favorite photos happen in the very beginning… but it may take you a minute to really own your space and feel comfortable and that is 100% normal. During the session I’ll coach you through posing, and remind you just how amazing you look! The magic happens when show you a few photos…I usually hear “OH MY GOD, that’s me? NO WAY that’s me!”. As the shoot progresses your confidence will as well. 

Then comes the best part – your reveal! This is where you’ll gasp and say thing like… “oh my god, wow, wow wow… Who is that sexy lady? I can’t believe that came out that good, I did not feel that sexy in that pose.” The reveal is where you’ll choose your favorite photos and we’ll design art work together… art that will be a constant reminder of how beautiful you are. So start thinking about where you want to see these photos everyday? In your bedroom? In your bathroom? Maybe even in your living room? 

You’ll walk out of the studio with more sass, confidence and swag. Ready to own your space and love yourself deeper.

A Little Piece of My Story

When I was a pre-teen, probably around 7th or 8th grade, my mom took me to get Glamour Shots. Remember those? Yes those cheesy things done in the 80’s, 90’s. Haha. 

BUT… for me, in the late 90’s, this was life changing.

Being pampered, hair and make up fully done, dressed, the whole nine yards.

But SEEING that photo of me. For the first time (that I can remember), I felt beautiful… like that’s me – I AM BEAUTIFUL.

It might seem dumb to most people but that photograph changed the way I viewed myself forever. Of course that wasn’t the end of my story. I’ve had so many ups and downs.

I’ve put up with the wrong guy for way too long, I’ve had many moments of not feeling “enough”, I’ve taken jobs that didn’t value me, I’ve felt like I can never keep up as a mom. 

I’m all those things. My life’s work is to have women really see themselves and know their worth… and that includes me. I’m a growing, changing, work in progress too!
