Sometimes booking a boudoir session starts with a simple thought: What if I actually did this?
For this business owner and mom, the idea came on a whim. With things happening in her life, she felt ready to step out of Mom mode for a little while and try something that felt completely unexpected.
That didn’t mean she wasn’t nervous.
“It is nothing like me, so it was an experience I was anxious about,” she shared. “It turned out to be such a fun and empowering experience.”
That feeling might sound familiar. You’re curious about boudoir, but imagining yourself in front of the camera brings up questions. Will you feel awkward? Will you know what to do? Will you be able to take yourself seriously?
For her, the nerves came from not knowing what to expect. She hadn’t arrived with a clear picture of how the day would unfold. She had simply decided to give herself the chance to find out.
And the biggest surprise of the day? Herself.
“I surprised me!! I was completely convinced I would laugh my way through it. I am not a very serious person, but I made it without laughing at myself!!”
We love that part of her story. When you’re used to being the person who laughs and keeps things light, holding a serious expression can feel like unfamiliar territory. Discovering that you can enjoy that side of yourself, too, is part of the fun.
Of course, laughter belongs in a boudoir session as well. There’s room for your sense of humor, your nerves, and the moments when you find yourself feeling a little bolder than you expected.
When we asked how the session made her feel, her answer was simple:
“Fun, beautiful and a little bold!”
Those few words capture what this day became for her. An idea that initially felt so unlike her turned into an experience she described as different “in an amazing way.”
Her advice to anyone who feels too shy or nervous to book?
“I say, take the chance! Step out of your comfort zone and live in that moment.”
You don’t have to know exactly how you’ll feel in front of the camera before you get here. She didn’t, either.
