When Miss J entered our giveaway, she wasn’t sure what to expect. Like many women, she had been through more than most ever know—and she didn’t see herself the way others do. At 40, she was healing from a 15-year narcissistic relationship, fighting leukemia, and learning to rediscover the parts of herself that had been buried under years of emotional abuse.

She told us that seeing our posts gave her a tiny spark of bravery. “Maybe I’m brave enough to try this,” she thought. So she entered. And then she won. And when she showed up on session day—nervous, excited, unsure—everything changed.
From the moment she walked into the studio, we made space for her to simply be. To be seen. To be supported. To feel beautiful again.

And she did.
She laughed. She cried. She saw herself again.
“I felt like a queen,” she said. “I was pampered and had proven to myself that I am beautiful. Regardless of what I’ve been told in the past.”
Miss J’s journey isn’t just about beautiful photos. It’s about reclaiming the parts of herself that someone else tried to destroy. For years, she was told she wasn’t enough. She was gaslit, belittled, and made to feel small. There was no physical violence—so for a long time, she told herself things were “okay.”

But they weren’t.
It took a leukemia diagnosis—and a brutally honest nurse—to open her eyes to the truth: “Honey, you’re a battered woman and you don’t even know it.”
That moment cracked something open. And since then, she’s been fighting her way back. Not just to health—but to happiness. To freedom. To her self.
Her boudoir session became a powerful part of that healing journey.
“I NEVER thought I’d see myself in that light again. Or in light at all,” she shared. “But I am beautifully imperfect—and that’s the part of myself I needed to love again.”

To other DV survivors, Miss J says this:
“Please heal what others have tried to take from you. Take your fire back. Take your beauty back. Own that shit and know you are one of a kind.”
To anyone who’s scared, nervous, or doesn’t think they’re “enough” to do something like this—she promises: you are. You’ll be surprised at how quickly the nerves fade and how powerful it feels to see yourself with new eyes.
Miss J, you are radiant. Resilient. Worthy of every bit of joy this world has to offer. Thank you for trusting us to walk with you for a moment on your healing journey—and for sharing your light with others who need to see what’s possible.
Let’s show her some love. ❤️
