Life is what you make it
My moms favorite quote and something I hear constantly in my head.
I’m so thankful she drilled it in all those times as a kid when id say,’ I’m bored, this isn’t fun, etc.’ Her response: ” life is what you make of it. It’s up to you to make it fun. “
So I got to thinking more about a question we were asked on the wedding panel at the Charlotte Virtual Wedding Show … “given the climate, should we still book our vendors 11-12 months out?”
Here’s the real question… what experience do you want?
If you want a big wedding surrounded by everyone you love. You should plan that.
If you want a small wedding surrounded by your nearest and dearest, you should plan that. If you want to elope, you should plan that.
Here’s the thing.
Life is what you make it.
There’s only really two times in a persons life where all (or their selected intimate group) of their closest friends and family gather in one place: weddings and.. (well the other is no fun to think about.)
To me, gathering everyone in one place is truly the best part about a wedding.
Where else can you see you friends from high school chatting up with your husbands parents?
Or your grandmother dancing with a groomsman?
Or really your parents dancing together on the dance floor all night?
You just never know what will happen!
Personally seeing those moments at my own wedding were the best part.
We only get one life (as far as we know).
We only get one wedding (hopefully).
Make it memorable, meaningful and epic.
….whatever that means to you.
We don’t know what the future holds. We don’t know if we’re going to see another wave of this and be quarantined again.
But–what we do know: vendors are working with couples to create that experience.* Whether they are able to do it when they planned or have to postpone, and do it in the future.
SO….what do you really want?
I don’t think you should settle because of this uncertainty.
Truly, certainty is an illusion anyhow.
We aren’t promised tomorrow, we don’t know what the future holds, covid or not.
One life – Once.
*make sure and chat with vendors before booking and find out how they will handle it if there is another wave.
