College sweethearts Alex and Peter began their love story at Wake Forest University, where Alex was a cheerleader and Peter played football. The Wake Forest Deacon Demons played a large role in the athletes’ relationship, so it was only fitting that the university was a focal point in their wedding theme. Peter proposed to Alex in Wait Chapel during their time in school—the same chapel where the pair would eventually be married. The rehearsal dinner and welcome party were hosted at the football stadium, and had a slideshow of the pair and their guests featured on the jumbotron screen. 

Incorporating both their love of football, Alex and Peter featured the Demon Deacon himself as the guest of honor. The couple’s labradoodle, aptly named Deacon, was their adorable ring bearer, and in lieu of a traditional seating chart, the reception tables were named after buildings located on campus. A campus map was used as the seating chart, and guests signed a Wake Forest football helmet rather than a traditional guest book. One of the most personal touches, however, was a non-football related addition. Alex’s “Tete,” her Palestinian grandmother, frequently cooked with the bride during her childhood, and although she passed away a few years ago, Alex honored her legacy by featuring her recipes at the reception. The non-traditional reception fare was a hit among guests, and made the day all the more special.  

Bride Alex offers up advice to couples planning their special day, adding that “Peter and I had a two-and-a-half-year engagement, which gave me plenty of time to plan the date, venue, and more. However, this also gave me plenty of time to stress the small details. At the end of the day, your guests are there to celebrate you, so don’t sweat the small details, and enjoy the celebration!”

The sun came out just in time for these newlyweds, highlighting the beautiful view from Wait Chapel at Wake Forest. Alex looked stunning in her fit and flare wedding gown, along with Peter is his white tuxedo jacket. This whirlwind romance began at Wake Forest, riding the ups and downs of college, and now continuing into their new life together. The perfect day was completed at the Millennium Center in Winston-Salem with hundreds of family, friends, and Wake Forest Alumni. The Millennium Center captured the couple’s style beautifully, creating the perfect atmosphere. Greg and his staff really went above and beyond to make sure this wonderful couple had the vision of their dreams. We enjoyed some amazing energy, watching everyone dance the night away!
