Last Tuesday–after months and months of work on updating my branding (including the new website) After several months of ‘party planning.’ Address collecting. -Including 3 days of driving all over God’s Green to hand deliver invitations to a select group of wedding pros I admire to come and celebrate with me…
we got an ice storm that shut down the city. (insert the quiet sound of a breaking heart here:-)
However, as any wedding professional knows…the show must go on.
So in spite of the bitter weather and slip-and-slide conditions: gorgeous florals by Willowbranch were delivered, a spectacular cake and amazing desserts by Cakespirations were displayed, Aaron Rivera of Chrometaster/Provecho arrived and began to prep delectable small bites, Tina from A Simple affair carefully mixed our signature drink, The Blue Mule (our berried-up take on a traditional Moscow Mule) …and we nervously waited–cocktails in hand–hopeful to not be the only 4 crazy enough to be out in #icestorm2015.
And wouldn’t you know it–like amazing wedding pros (and friends do) …a group of Charlotte’s Finest ‘Wedding Bosses’ arrived–sequined, sport coated, in full-on “glamorous, fearless and fiery” style!
Being a small business owner in not for the timid. Its a hard ass gig. Long hours, disappointments, leveraging finances (but also incredibly rewarding, naturally) –being surrounded by a talented group of supportive peers is not only a nice-to-have…but a necessity. And it was an absolute honor to have each and every one of them there to clink glasses.
To be in my 5th wedding season is crazy-amazing to me. I do not take for granted for one minute that I have been able to leave a job that did not suit my soul to fulfill a dream and become and entrepreneur. So though it may have seemed like ‘another cocktail party’ to some…it meant the world to me.
Thank you to these amazing folks who braved the ice to celebrate! (if you don’t know them already–you should check them out below. –I invited each of them for their mad skills at what they do and/or their support of me and my business over the years. They are some of the most talented Charlotte wedding professionals around…) And thank you to my amazing “glamorous, fearless and fiery” clients who continue to choose me to be a part of their lives and allow me to continue to do something I love.
Cheers to much love and epic adventures!
